Personality: Aurora is a quiet, sorrowful girl, and emotionally unstable. She is not in her right mind because of horrible events a few years back. Nightmares and hallucinations plague her mind but she is still able to lead her people. Aurora is fearful of the dark and has a strange obsession with red roses.
Real deal with the Disney tales: Disney's version of Sleeping Beauty isn't too far off from the original, but they left out a few details. The king and queen ruled over the land of Somnium for many years. They desperately wanted a child and tried for many years but tragedy struck every time. The queen miscarried twice and had given up. She fell into depression and had many thoughts of suicide. The heavens soon smiled upon them by blessing them with a child, Aurora. After she was born, her parents invited all to celebrate her birth and to bless their child. A mysterious old woman came to bless the child but was horrified when her eyes fell upon Aurora. She screamed that the child was cursed and would bring ruin upon the kingdom. The king and queen did not believe her and had the woman executed for accusing their only child as cursed. 15 years had passed since that day, and the kingdom continued to flourish. However, the king and queen soon began to notice that something was wrong with their daughter. She was emotionally unstable and had many strange thoughts. Suddenly, when Aurora was walking in the courtyard with her parents, she collapsed and fell into a deep slumber. Her parents were very worried and hired all the best physicians known in the kingdom. All of them had no idea what Aurora was afflicted with and she continued to sleep. Strange things began to happen throughout the kingdom which involved the appearance of vines. They slowly began to make their way into the kingdom, constricting the city. The people tried to get rid of them, but they came back even thicker. Things began to get worse when many started to collapse, falling into a slumber similar to the princess's. Soon, the whole kingdom fell into the slumber and the vines continued to grow. They covered the whole kingdom and soon, many began to die in their sleep. Three years passed, and almost everyone had died except for the princess. She somehow continued to live, unaffected by the pass of time. On her 18 birthday, a man discovered the kingdom and came upon the princess. He was mesmerized by her beauty and lustful thoughts came into his head. The man raped Aurora, and this is what woke her up. When she awoke she screamed as the man raped her.
A few months passed since Aurora's awakening and she had discovered that almost all her people had died. After she had awaken, others began to arise from the deep slumber to find that their world had become different. Many died during their sleep, but a few were spared and survived. Aurora discovered that her parents were dead. Aurora had no choice but to lead her people to rebuild their country. They were able to bring their country back to its former glory, but nothing was ever the same. Especially with Aurora. Because of that event, she became even more emotionally unstable.
